President’s Report, by Valerie Puryear
What a busy month April has been! Our first show of 2024 was a big success. A large group of folks went camping at Fort Mountain, and our Spring Meet and Greet Ride was also a success! Thank you to all the volunteers, competitors, and participants!
Our May show is Saturday the 18th. Historically, the May Show is bigger than our others. We will be setting up on Friday the 17th. Please come out and lend a hand! We can meet for lunch at Dos Amigo's in Madison at noon and then go to the Ag Center to set up. The more the merrier, and the faster it gets done! We also need volunteers on Show Day Saturday. There are a lot of jobs, you don't have to commit to an entire day.
We will award the third annual Barbara Reilly Cumming Memorial Scholarship at the Show, on May 18th. We will make the presentation during the first break of the morning.
The regular meeting is Tuesday, May 21. The Meeting will start at 7pm at the Oconee County Library in Wire Park. The presentation will be on current parasite control recommendations for horses. Things change, worms become resistant. You need to have an effective worming schedule in place.
Finally, we are lining up some great programs for our summer meetings. Hopefully these meetings will be held at various farms around our area. Some of the topics you may see: saddle fitting, trail/obstacle course-what the judge is looking for, barefoot trimming. If you have a topic you would like to see presented, please contact us!
Don't forget: you can register for shows, and join Kel-Mac through the website www.Kel-Mac.com
See you on the trail!
